Friends of IHES
Friends of IHES, Inc. is an organization created in 1999 in the United States. It is a Public Charity under Section 170 (b) (1) (A) (vi) of the Internal Revenue Code and exempt from Federal Tax under Section 501 (c) (3). It has three primary goals:
to increase the visibility of IHES in the United States, to coordinate the network of current and former American invited researchers to the Institute, through
the organization of scientific or cultural events, and to raise funds for IHES.
Governance Friends of IHES is governed by a Board of Directors, consisting of a Chairman and President, a Treasurer, a Secretary, two ex-officio members representing IHES, and other members who share an interest in fundamental science and the belief that curiosity-driven basic research is key to society's advancement. The Board members contribute to the work of Friends of IHES by taking part in events organized by Friends of IHES and by being involved in the organization's decisional-making process. The Board typically meets up to three times a year, either in person or via videoconference. In 2020, the Friends of IHES Board of Directors met twice, on September 4 and on November 12, both times via videoconference.
