ELIEZER RABINOVICI studied several subjects in 2020. Together with Jose Barbon (who visited IHES in 2019) they studied the properties of systems deformed by the TTbar term. They uncovered characteristics of these models in which a very special irrelevant operator is added. They have shown in particular that in d=2 any conformal field theory deformed by such a term generates a system which has a negative specific heat above a certain energy. ANTON KAPUSTIN studied topological aspects of gapped quantum many-body systems. In two projects with Lev Spodyneiko, he generalized the construction of family invariants such as the Berry class and the Thouless charge pump to lattice systems in higher dimensions. He showed that, to a family of gapped quantum lattice systems in d spatial dimensions, one can associate a class in degree d+2 de Rham cohomology of the parameter space.
